Haiku sweater for a little girl

Project Details:

This is my first shot at the Haiku pattern on Knitty. I used about 3 1/2 skeins of Bella Colour (Melon) to complete this project. I chose this yarn because it’s machine washable, and it is fine to work with; however it can snag pretty easily. I’m thinking that this might not be such a good thing for little ones who tend to get into sticky and burly situations.

Note, I love this pattern because it’s fairly simple and the construction or sewing of the pieces is fairly simple since there are only three sections to knit (the body and two arms).

Note, I’m still looking for the ‘perfect buttons’ to adorn this cute little sweater.

oh it looks great, i love orange! You did a good job!

  2. Thanks! I think I want to try doing the grown up version of Haiku too: (Sonnet) – http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTsonnet.html I’ll probably have to find a different yarn… though the Bella Colour might not be so bad

A perfect pattern for a baby sweater. I looks great 🙂

  4. That looks terrific! I’ve been thinking about giving this pattern a try myself, and it’s nice to see what it looks like. Having just finished a toddler sweater, though, I think I’ll take a short break from the genre and knit something for myself first.

The Dr. Who scarf is on my to-knit list as well. Do you think knitting in the round (and slipping a stitch at each halfway point to make the scarf lie flat) would make the seemingly endless garter stitch a bit less painful?

  5. Actually, Marsha,
That’s a really good idea. I didn’t think about that. I’ll have to think about that when I’m knitting the season 18 scarf for a friend!
